Agricultural sector in North Kazakhstan records significant growth

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 25. North Kazakhstan's agricultural sector has experienced significant growth, with the gross output of agricultural products reaching 101 billion Kazakh tenge ($226.6 million) in the first five months of the year, marking an increase of 103.6 percent, akim (governor) of the region Aydarbek Saparov said during a briefing in the Central Communications Service, Trend reports.

According to him, the cultivation area expanded by 90,000 hectares, reaching a total of 4.5 million hectares. Buckwheat cultivation saw a three-fold increase, while potatoes, carrots, and cabbage experienced a two-fold growth.

Furthermore, he said that construction has commenced on 17 farms, nine of which are scheduled to be operational by the end of the year. The agricultural and industrial complex is witnessing the implementation of 31 projects worth 77.5 billion Kazakh tenge ($173.9 million). These projects encompass poultry farms, sheep farms, vegetable storage facilities, greenhouses, irrigation systems, and an oil extraction plant.

Moreover, the range of agricultural machinery assembly is expanding, with the introduction of the Xerion tractors and Horsch sowing complexes. There are plans to consider assembling Axion tractors in the future, as well as initiating the production of Ray-Man trailer equipment. Additionally, the region is exploring new directions, such as lightweight steel structures. Overall, the region aims to attract investments totaling 496 billion Kazakh tenge ($1.1 billion).
