IMF's confidence in Kazakhstan growing as country's GDP projection changes

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 10. Kazakhstan’s real gross domestic product (GDP) growth is projected to increase until 4.6 percent in 2023, Trend reports, citing the latest World Economic Outlook report issued by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Thus, the expected growth rate for 2023 increased by 0.3 percentage points compared to the previous April forecast (4.3 percent).

At the same time, the IMF lowered its growth forecast for 2024 to 4.2 percent.

The International Monetary Fund is a global institution with a headquarters in Washington, D.C. The organization aims to achieve sustainable growth and prosperity for its 190 member countries. It does so by supporting economic policies that promote financial stability and monetary cooperation.

The economic growth rate of Kazakhstan was 4.7 percent from January through August 2023. Positive dynamics in the real sector amounted to 3.7 percent, in the service sector – 5.1 percent.

Among the industries, the greatest growth is demonstrated by construction - by 12.6 percent, trade - 10 percent, and information and communications - 8.4 percent.

In 2022, the real growth of Kazakh economy was 3.2 percent. The country attracted $28 billion of foreign direct investment, achieving 18 percent growth.

The real volume of investment in fixed capital increased by 8 percent. Foreign trade turnover increased by 32 percent and amounted to $134 billion.
