ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 12. Gold reserves in the National Bank of Kazakhstan amounted to 294.2 tons as of the end of December 2023, Trend reports.
Data from the World Gold Council indicates that this figure decreased by 16 percent compared to 351.6 tons in 2022.
The value of the gold reserves amounted to $16.454 billion, which is a 12-percent increase compared to $14.584 billion at the end of 2022.
Kazakhstan’s total reserves, including gold, amounted to $36.116 billion as of the end of December 2023, which is a 3-percent increase compared to $35.091 billion in the corresponding period of 2022.
Meanwhile, Kazakhstan's second-tier banks and individual non-bank exchange offices sold 38,729 gold bars with a total weight of 1.6 tons from January through December 2023.
Furthermore, the World Gold Council serves as the market development organization for the gold industry, operating across various sectors including gold mining and investment. Its primary objective is to stimulate and maintain demand for gold.
The Council regularly publishes data on gold reserves, compiled using IMF IFS statistics, which monitors central banks' reported purchases and sales, as well as the proportion of gold within their international reserves.
