China, Kyrgyzstan agree to build cement plants

During the visit of Kyrgyz Deputy Prime Minister for Economy and Investment Tayirbek Sarpashev's to China, an agreement has been reached with Chinese investors to build a plant in Kemin for cement production, Tazabek reported.

The plant's capacity will reach 1.8 million tons per year, or 2500 tons per day. The construction period of the plant should take from one year to 18 months. Investments are expected of more than $50 million. It is planned that construction will begin in April.

"It covers our volume and will lead to lower prices in the market and will substantially reduce the cost of construction in the north of Kyrgyzstan," Sarpashev said.

Also according to Sarpashev, an agreement has been reached to build a plant for the production of tiles which is scheduled to be commissioned in August.

"Mainly, the plant will use local raw materials. Construction will be conducted in two stages and investments will amount to about $50 million," he said.
