Baku, Azerbaijan, February 17. Tajikistan plans to increase the production of mineral fertilizers up to about 300,000 tons per year, Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan Sherali Kabir told reporters, Trend reports via Russian media.
According to the minister, the enterprise of Tajikistan’s TALCO Chemical Company on the production of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers has already begun to produce fertilizers with an annual capacity of 75,000 tons.
The second stage of production is expected to expand the manufacture of fertilizers up to 200,000 tons per year, which should meet the needs of the domestic market.
The minister added that another producer of fertilizers - Chemical Asia Company, has upgraded the production process and repaired the gas pipeline for fuel supply from Uzbekistan. The company plans to produce 90,000 tons of fertilizer per year.
He noted that the increase in agriculture output is possible only with the appliance of new technologies and fertilizers. According to the official, Tajikistan requires 700,000 tons of fertilizer per year. Meanwhile, Tajikistan does not require as many potash fertilizers as phosphoric ones.
The enterprise on fertilizer production of Tajikistan’s TALCO Chemical Company was launched in the Khatlon region of Tajikistan in the southwest of the country in November 2022. The production is manufactured through technology bought in Russia and Uzbekistan.
