Turkmenistan delivers new passenger, cargo locomotives from Russia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 30

Two new diesel locomotives have been delivered from Russia to Turkmenistan, Trend reports citing Turkmenistan: Golden Age online newspaper.

According to the media outlet, the Russian Transmashholding JSC has delivered passenger and cargo diesel locomotives to the Central Asian country.

The delivery was carried out in accordance with the contracts signed in the fall of 2020. Diesel locomotives were sent to the locomotive depot in Ashgabat city.

One of the delivered locomotives is equipped with a two-wire power supply system for passenger railcars, which allows use with modern railcars, primarily with double-deck ones.

Another 2TE25KM mainline freight two-section diesel locomotive built for Turkmenistan has an alternating-direct current electric transmission and is capable of driving trains weighing up to 6,400 tons.
