(Turkmenistan.ru) - as a result of local inspections to monitor the grain sowing campaign, grave violations have been revealed, which were allowed by heads of the Turkmen grain products "Turkmengallaonumleri" and Rural services associations "Turkmenobahyzmat", as well as provincial and district governors who falsified reports to the head of state claiming a full completion of the autumn wheat sowing in the run-up to the 15th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence. The situation in Balkan and Ahal provinces is particularly bad. In these provinces, grain sowing has been completed only on 32.1 and 57.2 per cent of land plots allocated for this purpose respectively, reports Trend.
As is known, measures have been taken with regard to the governors of the Ahal and Balkan provinces for their previous shortcomings at work and they have been relieved of their posts. Currently, law-enforcement bodies are carrying out additional inquiries into the cases of the two former governors and several local offices of the Turkmen association of grain products. Inspections are also under way in Dashoguz, Lebap and Mary provinces.
The President of Turkmenistan has sent a telegram to provincial and district officials of the country's agricultural sector saying the cases of false reporting are unacceptable and the officials are personally responsible for this. The head of state instructed that all the necessary measures be taken in order to correct the shortcomings, and that the grain sowing campaign be completed before 24 November.
On November 24, Saparmurat Niyazov plans to hold an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan to give a critical assessment of the revealed shortcomings.
