Uzbek FM, UN preventive diplomacy center’s head mull co-op

Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov received the Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) Petko Draganov, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a message Nov. 14.
Cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UNRCCA was discussed during the meeting, according to the message.
An exchange of views on topical international and regional problems was also held during the meeting.
The five governments of Central Asia reached a consensus on the establishment of a United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy in Ashgabat on May 16, 2007.
While initiating this proposal, the governments of the region took into consideration the multiple threats that are faced by Central Asia, including international terrorism and extremism, drug trafficking, organized crime and environmental degradation.
