Cotton fiber production increases in Uzbekistan

From January through September 2020, Uzbekistan increased output of cotton fiber by 49.3 percent compared to the same period in 2019, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

For 9M2020, Uzbekistan produced 393,200 tons of cotton fiber.

The enterprises of Uzbekistan from January through September 2020 produced 326,300 tons of cotton yarn. The growth compared to the same period in 2019 amounted to 7.3 percent.

Earlier it was reported that Uzbekistan for 7M2020 increased the production of cotton fiber by 34.86 percent compared to the same period in 2019.

Enterprises of Uzbekistan for 7M2020 produced 250,300 tons of cotton yarn. The growth compared to the same period in 2019 amounted to 8.8 percent.

According to the decision of the government, the country has completely abandoned the export of cotton fiber since 2019. At the same time, in March 2020, the government order for the cultivation of cotton fiber was also abolished. Instead, cotton fiber will be grown by cotton textile clusters and farmers.

In addition, the starting price of the cotton fiber is determined by the seller based on the value of the New York Mercantile Exchange futures quotation.
