ALBA supports Iran's peaceful nuclear program

Ambassadors and heads of missions of the member states of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas (ALBA), in a statement issued here on Wednesday, voiced support for Iran's peaceful nuclear program, IRNA reported.

Ambassadors and heads of missions of Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Nicaragua and Venezuela, in a meeting held at the Venezuelan Embassy in Tehran, condemned the "destabilizing and militaristic aspirations of the US government and its allies, especially the Zionist regime".

The five countries, in their statement, declared their support for the sovereign right of the Islamic Republic of Iran to pursue peaceful nuclear energy, stressing that this is the legitimate right of all nations according to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

The ALBA states reiterated that a military aggression against the Islamic Republic will bring dreadful consequences to the whole world, underlining the need for dialogue in order to find a peaceful solution to Iran's nuclear case.
