By Rahim Zamanov - Trend:

Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said on Dec. 23 denied the rumors an Iranian national abducted in Yemen has been killed, the IRNA News Agency reported.

"Reports saying Nour Ahmad Nikbakht has died in Yemen are inaccurate," he said.

According to Amir Abdollahian, Iran is planning to send a delegation to Yemen this week to pursue the fate of its diplomat abducted in the country back in July.

"The visit is part of an arrangement made between Iran's Foreign Minister and his Yemeni counterpart," he said.

He further urged Yemeni officials to boost efforts to rescue the Iranian diplomat.

Nikbakht was abducted by gunmen on his way to work in the capital Sana'a in July.
