TEHRAN, Iran, Sept. 20
Trend:
Iran's permanent membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will last for one and a half a year, spokesman for Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Saeed Khatibzadeh said, Trend reports via IRNA.
Khatibzadeh said that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a multicultural, political, economic and security organization with vast capacities.
Iran's permanent membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was approved on Friday during Iranian President visit to Tajikistan.
“The Shanghai Organization and the Islamic Republic of Iran can also use each other's capacities to improve the relations,” Khatibzadeh said.
MFA spokesman noted that Iran's membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will practically end Iran's isolation project by some international actors, including the United States.
He called Iran membership in SCO as another sign of the failure of isolating policies.
