Iran sees uptick in non-oil trade turnover with Turkmenistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 4. Iran's non-oil trade turnover with Turkmenistan increased by four percent in value and six percent in weight during four months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through July 21, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through July 22, 2023), the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration said, Trend reports.

The trade turnover of Iran with Turkmenistan amounted to 447,000 tons worth about $156 million for four months.

However, during the same period last year, Iran's trade turnover with Turkmenistan amounted to 422,000 tons worth about $150 million.

The two countries' trade turnover exchanged agricultural and food products, industrial products, transformers, water conditioners, petrochemical products, petroleum coke, cotton, fabrics, etc.

Meanwhile, Iran's non-oil trade with Turkmenistan amounted to 1.39 million tons worth about $484 million in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024). During the last Iranian year, non-oil trade turnover between Iran and Turkmenistan decreased by 0.8 percent in value and increased by 5.6 percent in weight compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023).

To note, Iran's trade turnover with neighboring countries amounted to 34.2 million tons worth $19.8 billion during the four months. Compared to the same period last year, Iran's trade turnover with neighboring countries increased by 6 percent in value and 5 percent in weight.
