Majlis speaker calls for consolidation of ties between Iran, France

(IRNA) Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel in a meeting with the head of French parliamentary friendship group here on Monday, by referring to the historical relations between Iran and France, called for consolidation of bilateral ties.

According to the report of Majlis Media Department, Haddad-Adel called exchange of parliamentary and political delegations between the two countries as an effective step in direction of growing trend of mutual confidence building and creating an appropriate atmosphere to solve some problems in mutual ties, reports Trend.

Majlis speaker said, "We hope France can maintain its positive view on Iran, as it had since the earliest times of the Islamic Revolution."

He added this view can prepare the ground for cooperation in the fields of politics, culture and economics.

He pointed out the American pressure to dissuade Islamic Republic of Iran from pursuing legal direction of using peaceful nuclear energy will be useless and the US behavior in this concern is a mistake and against the legal base of the International Atomic Energy Agency regulations.

The French head of parliamentary friendship group, for his part, also called the bilateral ties historical and old and said, the message of our trip to Iran is helping the consolidation of parliamentary and political relations between the two countries.

In spite of ups and downs in the two countries relations, he added, "We hope our relations can be clear and without problem in the future."

Concerning nuclear issues, he said France recognizes Iran's rights to use peaceful nuclear energy and has no doubt in this concern.

About the terrorist group of MKO, the French official said the group has been recognized in France as a terrorist one and the police have them under constant supervision.
