(IRNA) - Iraqi Deputy Trade Minister Abdul-Khaleq Nasser al-Ameri, in a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Baghdad Hassan Kazemi Qomi here on Wednesday, called for expansion of bilateral relations, reports Trend.
In the meeting, Al-Ameri said that with Iran's significant experience in economic and trade planning, it can play a decisive role in improving Iraq's economy.
Referring to Iran as a neighbor and major partner in the economic arena, he said that the two countries have a favorable trade volume and enjoy many historical commonalties.
The Iraqi deputy minister hoped Iran would play a constructive role in improving economic conditions in his country and responding to its basic demands.
He also hoped that Iran will continue to help rebuild Iraqi infrastructure destroyed during the war and military operations.
For his part, the Iranian diplomat said that Iran was fully supportive of Iraq's economy and had the potential to supply its major food requirements.
Meanwhile, Kazemi submitted to Al-Ameri an official invitation of the Iranian trade minister inviting his Iraqi counterpart to visit Iran to discuss expansion of mutual ties and sign agreements.
