Iran’s Green Plour Industrial Group (GPIG) and a leading European carriage manufacturer have inked a deal for cooperation on the local production of rail goods in the Islamic Republic.
Under the agreement, Stadler Rail AG will provide unlimited finances for the joint production in Iran, Tasnim news agency reported.
Seyed Keivan Emami, an official with Green Plour Industrial Group (GPIG), has said that the joint venture is expected to produce 2,000 carriages for the country’s subway system and 500 carriages for the railways.
He further added that the Iranian railway system needs to add 25,000 carriages over the next ten years.
