Chairman of the Georgian Parliament David Bakradze met with his German counterpart Norbert Lammert during his visit to Germany in Berlin on Wednesday.

The main topics of discussion were bilateral relations between the countries, the priorities of Georgia's foreign policy, domestic policy processes and the forthcoming parliamentary elections.

As the parliament told Trend, the meeting stressed that Germany supports Georgia's democratic development and its aspiration for European and Euro-Atlantic structures.

"Since Georgia gained independence, Germany has always stood next to it," Bakradze said.

The Bundestag chairman got detailed information about the process of preparation for parliamentary elections in Georgia. Lammert welcomed the Georgian government's initiative to enhance the participation of international observers in the process and said that he believes that the parliamentary elections in Georgia will be held in a fair and democratic atmosphere.

Bakradze thanked Germany for the principled stance on the issue of non-recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
