Obama declines to detail US support for Syrian rebels
US President Barack Obama declined Wednesday to give any details of US support for the rebels fighting to oust Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, dpa reported.
"I cannot comment on specifics around our programmes related to the Syrian opposition," he said.
The United States wanted to ensure that no chemical weapons were used or supplied to those who might use them, Obama said at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The US president said al-Assad had no future because it was impossible for him to regain legitimacy.
"Assad has brought chaos and bloodshed to his own country and has been killing his own people," Obama said.
