In an important match in the race for a place in the Europa League, Roma had the last laugh in this afternoon's encounter away to Cagliari, who gave away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2, Goal.com reported.
Coach Massimiliano Allegri was obviously disappointed with the way the game went but still praised his side for their performance.
"It was an entertaining match, with chances for both sides," he said to Gasport. "Too bad, because we were 2-0 up, Roma were in difficulty and we could have handled the situation better."
On the controversy surrounding Roma's second goal, which was scored while a Cagliari player was on the ground, the coach said: "Sometimes in these cases the players stop, sometimes they don't, the best thing is if the referee stops the play."
Alessandro Matri and Robert Acquafresca scored to give Cagliari a 2-0 lead, but two goals in five minutes halfway through the second half by captain Francesco Totti and Simone Perrotta allowed Roma to equalise.
The Rossoblu are now four points behind Roma, who are in the last available position for a place in the Europa League at the moment.
