Newly-appointed acting Honduran President Roberto Micheletti named Enrique Ortez Colindres as new foreign minister on Sunday after soldiers ousted President Manuel Zelaya, Xinhua reported.
Foreign Minister Patricia Rodas belonging to the camp of Zelaya was reportedly under house arrest by the opposition soldiers.
Colindres, former ambassador to the United Nations and France, is regarded as one of the main opposition figures of ousted President Manuel Zelaya.
Zelaya was forced to flow to Costa Rica after he was seized by soldiers before a national referendum on changing the constitution for a reelection.
"I was kidnapped with force, violence and brutality," he told media at a joint press conference with Costa Rican President Oscar Arias Sanchez . Zelaya did not sign a letter of resignation.
Shortly earlier, Rodas called on all citizens to demonstrate against the military's coup, saying only the strength of the people can bring Honduras back into order.
