Results of three exit polls show that Incumbent Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has secured victory in Sunday's presidential election with over 70% of the vote, RIA Novosti reported.
The ECOOM analytical center said Lukashenko gained 79.1% while his closest rival was Grigory Kostuchev who won 4.2%.
The Ukrainian TNS exit poll said the incumbent leader received 72.2% of the vote. Two others candidates from the opposition, Andrei Sannikov and Vladimir Neklyaev, won 6.1% each.
An exit poll held by the Belarusian committee of youth organizations showed that Lukashenko secured 81.4% of the vote. Grigory Kostuchev came second with 3.4%. Other candidates won between 0.3% and 2.1%.
Lukashenko has led the ex-Soviet republic since 1994, largely relying on Russia-subsidized energy supplies. He won three landslide victories in the 1994, 2001 and 2006 elections.
