Turkish Parliament Speaker arrives in Iran
Turkish Parliament Speaker Mehmet Ali Sahin Sunday arrived in Iran, Anadolu Agency reported.
Speaking to reporters at Tehran airport, Sahin said that Turkey wanted to contribute to Turkey-Iran cooperation by further developing inter-parliamentary relations.
"There has been an exemplary cooperation between the two countries in recent years. We want to contribute to Turkey-Iran cooperation by further developing inter-parliamentary relations," he said.
Upon arrival, Sahin met with Shahabeddin Sadr, vice-speaker of the Iranian Parliament as part of his state visit to Iran.
Sahin is set to meet with Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.
He will also hold talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Motaki.
Sahin will be received by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Iran's supreme leader Ali Hoseini-Khamenei.
Sahin and the accompanying delegation are expected to return to Turkey on June 15.
