By Anastasia Savchenko - Trend:

A new wind farm, Mahmut Şevket Paşa-1, will be built in Silivri district of Istanbul, Trend reports referring to the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.

According to the ministry, construction of the wind farm is currently underway.

The construction of the Mahmut Şevket Paşa-1 wind farm was planned in 2014, but Turkey's Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) revoked the license for the construction.

Ex-Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Berat Albayrak said earlier that Turkey plans to invest $1 billion in the development of renewable energy sources in the country.

According to Albayrak, construction of new power plants will increase Turkey’s energy security.

The ex-minister also believes that the new project on the development of renewable energy sources will provide jobs for about 3,750 people.
