Azerbaijani Ambassador to Belarus Ali Nagiyev said he supports deepening industrial cooperation between the two countries at a press conference in Minsk.
The diplomat said the joint production of Belarusian tractors is underway in Azerbaijan.
"If we want to see this production extended, it must be constantly deepened," he said, adding that Azerbaijan has metallurgical industries and rubber production, and therefore there is no need to import many components from Belarus.
Regarding economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, the ambassador said earlier it developed poorly and trade turnover amounted to only $25 million.
However, in recent years, trade turnover significantly increased, amounting to $125 million in 2009. The ambassador stressed that this figure only covers consumer goods, as the military and technical cooperation already exceeds $500 million.
Nagiyev said crane production also recently began in Azerbaijan, and several dozens have already been assembled. He also expressed hope that the Belarusian market will become more open to agricultural products from Azerbaijan.
