Rasulov Emin Detained for Possible Participation in Explosion in Baku Mosque of Abu- Bekr

Azerbaijan, Baku, 20 August / Trend / Rasulov Emin , born in 1986, the resident of Azerbaijan's City of Astara , was detained as the suspected of participating in the fact of explosion in the Baku Mosque of Abu- Bekr , the city Prosecutor's Office stated. During the investigation on this incident, literature kindling national and religious hatred was revealed in the apartment leased by Rasulov . As a result of this, on the basis of article 283.1 (excitation of national, racial or religious hostility) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan, a decision was made to detain him. At present the investigation determines the direct participation of Rasulov in the explosion of two hand grenades in the Abu- Bekr Mosque.

The blast took place at the Abu Bakir Mosque in U.Bunyadzade Street of Baku city at 08.50p.m on 17 August.

The unknown man threw two RGD-1 kinds of grenades into the Mosque, breaking the Mosque's window with stone.

According to the official information, two men died in this incident, whilst unofficial source said that three men died.

Especially, people, who belong to Salafit sect, pray in the Abu Bakir Mosque. In 2008, the Azerbaijani National Security Ministry and the State Committee on Religious Organizations held operations in this Mosque and withdraw banned religious books.
