Georgia, Tbilisi, 19 August /corr. Trend N.Kirtskalia / NATO Ministerial meeting did not consider today the question of presenting MAP to Georgia, but the position of alliance declared in Bucharest remains valid, JaapdeHoop Scheffer, NATO Secretary General, said to a briefing today as a result of NATO Ministerial meeting in Brussels. "The question of presenting MAP to Georgia and Ukraine will be considered in December and establishing Georgia- NATO commission will make it possible to deepen relations between us," he said.
Answering the question whether a question of Georgia's bringing blow to South Ossetia was considered, the Secretary General of NATO clearly stated that "NATO does not intend to consider it unless the Russian troops withdraw from the territory of Georgia". "I am ready to discuss all questions, but only after Russia withdraws its troops from the sovereign state. Initiative is in the hands of Russia, and it should withdraw its forces from Georgia," he said.
"Georgia can become the member of NATO, and I think that this will occur during one excellent day," , emphasized Scheffer.
