On Sept. 18, Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev congratulated Azeri people on Ramadan Holiday, AzerTAj state news agency reported.

"I heartily congratulate you and all compatriots who live in different parts of the world on sacred Ramadan Holiday and express all my warmest wishes," the congratulatory letter by State Head says.

The letter says that being the divine wisdom of the Koran, the sacred Ramadan Holiday encourages people to peace, calmness and equality, demonstrating the triumph of moral and ethical purity and good deeds.

"Our people have always had a commitment to the national moral and Islamic values. Azerbaijan was one of the historical and cultural centers of Islamic civilization. It is no accident that the city of Baku in 2009 was declared the capital of Islamic culture. In our country, which is an integral part of the Muslim world, national and religious ceremony, Ramadan Holiday is also celebrated with great solemnity," said the letter by Head of State.

Pious citizens, worthy implementing Oruj, mark these days of Ramadan with a sense of pride and nobility share the joys of the holiday, pray for peace and prosperity of Azerbaijan and the people.

"Our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan are remembered with great honor throughout the country. In the blessed days of Ramadan, I express solidarity to all your benevolent intentions, I wish may Allah bless all of you. Dear sisters and brothers! We see the Month of Ramadan off, with proud and great satisfaction. Ramadan further strengthens the sense of friendship, brotherhood and solidarity, which brings the light of divine wisdom to people's souls. May Allah bless your Oruj," the letter said.
