Turnout in the referendum on constitutional change in Kyrgyzstan's Chuy region, at the moment is 18%, the coordinator of the referendum on the region, Chairman of Public Association of Azerbaijanis living in Kyrgyzstan "Azeri" Akif Allahverdiyev told Trend by telephone on Sunday.
According to him, the referendum takes place very actively.
A total of 2.7 million Kyrgyz citizens eligible for voting have an opportunity to vote to curtail the president's powers and convert Kyrgyzstan into a parliamentary republic.
Voters will also be asked to endorse interim Prime Minister Roza Otunbayeva as president until December 31, 2011. She will not be entitled to run for president in the October 2011 elections.
