The OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut said it was premature to talk about the need to rename the organization.
"It is premature to speak about renaming the OSCE, but I think that Kazakhstan's chairmanship has done much in this regard. I think you notice that all statements and the speeches, which were made by the heads of delegations in Astana today go through red thread mentioning the Euro-Atlantic and Eurasian area. And it is so positive, which derives from the Kazakh chairmanship to OSCE," he said, answering journalists' questions at a press conference in Astana on Sunday.
He said OSCE attaches great importance to the Asian component. "A large number of guests who will arrive here to attend the summit will discover Kazakhstan, Astana, which located in the center of Eurasia. I think it would be a great opportunity for them also to expand their horizons and views. In order to understand that there is a huge relationship between Europe and Asia, and not only in terms of Afghanistan, but also in terms of progress in Central Asian countries," said the OSCE Secretary General.
In his turn, OSCE Chairman-in-Office's special envoy, Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Konstatin Zhigalov said that since the beginning of Kazakhstan's chairmanship, the idea that the understanding of European security has long gone beyond the geographical scope of Europe has actively moved.
"We have actively promoted the term of Euro-Atlantic and Eurasian security. I am pleased to emphasize that this term now firmly operates with all member and partner countries of the Organization," said Zhigalov.
