Georgia, Tbilisi, Jan.18 / Trend N.Kirtskhalia /

Tbilisi City Court found the former defense minister Irakli Okruashvili and seven others innocent in forming of an illegal armed group and acquitted them of the charge.

According to Okruashvili's lawyer, Zviad Kordzadze, his client described in the court in detail the period when he was about to return to Georgia.

"Okruashvili could convince the court that he had no intention of building an armed group," he said.
According to Kordzadze, upon completion of the legal trial, the prosecutor requested the adjournment, after which petitioned the court to drop charges against Okruashvili and others.
Thus, the prosecution against them has been terminated.

Prior to that, Okruashvili was acquitted in two other charges - money laundering and misappropriation of shares of "Dzheosel".

As for the allegations of abuse of power, the process in this case is scheduled for January 24. Defense hopes that these charges against him will be withdrawn as well.
