Around 20 people accused of organising the demonstrations in support of the protests in Istanbul's Taksim Square were arrested in the Turkish capital of Ankara, Anadolu agency reported today.

Around 20 people accused of organising the demonstrations in support of the protests in Istanbul's Taksim Square were arrested in the Turkish capital of Ankara, Anadolu agency reported today.

The detention operations were carried out on 30 addresses. Before the court hearing, the detainees will stay in prison. Earlier, it was reported that around 944 people were detained during the protests in Turkey.

Protests have continued in Turkey for three weeks. According to the authorities, they are anti-government. Turkey's opposition parties accuse the police of using excessive force against protesters.

Earlier, the Turkish Interior Minister said that nearly 2.5 million people participated in protests in 79 Turkish provinces during the past three weeks.

Around 4000 received various injuries during the riots in Turkey, while 4900 were detained by police.
