BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 2. Tofig Hasanov has been stripped of his highest special rank of Major General of Justice and the medal "For the Motherland," Trend reports.
The decree was signed by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
The decree is signed based on the entry into force of the court verdict on conviction of Tofig Hasanov for committing grave crimes and the submission of the Court of Grave Crimes of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
This decree comes into force from the day of its signing.
Tofig Hasanov was detained last year in a criminal case investigated by the State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan. The measure of restraint in the form of detention was chosen against Hasanov, who is accused of abuse of power, embezzlement and bribery.
Tofig Hasanov was found guilty of large-scale bribery and sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment in a general regime correctional institution.
