Azerbaijan, Baku, 25 April / Trend corr J. Babayeva/ On 25 April, the UN Development Program and Azerbaijani Ministry on Ecology & Mineral Resources signed the project on 'Improvement of Work on Solid Discharge Management in Azerbaijan' in Baku.
The document was undersigned by Huseyn Bagirov, Azerbaijani Minister for Ecology & Natural Resources, and UN resident-coordinator Bruno Pueza.
The project is expected to be implemented within a period of two and half years. It envisages technical assistance to the Azerbaijani Government in preparing a strategy on re-processing and re-utilization of solid discharge.
The project will be jointly financed by the UN Development Program (USD 350,000) and Norwegian Government (USD 550,000).
According to Pueza, Azerbaijan's economic development creates serious problems for the solid discharge management. "The Azerbaijani Government has been informed of the same, and now it is taking adequate measures for it," Pueza said.
