No One Can Pretend to Name of Congress of World Azerbaijanis: Co-Chairman

Azerbaijan, Baku, 27 June / corr. Trend J. Babayeva/ The newly elected co-chairman of the Congress of World Azerbaijanis (CWA) Pasha Galbinur said in the press conference on 27 June that no one can pretend to the name of the Congress of World Azerbaijanis even in line with a law. "CWA was founded in 1997 in Los Angeles and it founders were elected members of the Board of Directors in the meeting held in Brussels. If Somebody announces themselves to be CWA after 11 years it contradicts not only elementary logic, but also international law," co-chairman said.

CWA was divided into two parts as a result of the disagreements and 11 members out of 16 members of the Board of Chairmen decided to remove chairman Golamrza Sabri Tabrizi from his post and elected Sabir Rustamkhanli chairman.

The remaining part of the members supported the chairmanship of Golamrza Sabri Tabrizi and held a meeting on 22-23 June in Brussels in the European Parliament. Some 300 representatives and guests from 25 countries took part in the CWA meeting presided over by Rustamkhanli. Changes were made to the regulations and program of the organization. The co-chairmanship institute will be established in CWA with Sabir Rustamkhanli and Firudin Parvizyani being elected co-chairman. Golamrza Sabri Tabrizi considers Keln meeting to be illegitimate.

According to the changes, Pasha Galbinur has been elected chairman from North Azerbaijan and chairman of DCWA Mammadrza Hashti from the South Azerbaijan

According to Galbinur, all documents and seal of CWA were handed over to the newly elected co-chairmen. "We are ready to protect ourselves if someone files suit against us over the name of the Organizations," he said.

"We do not imitate the moves of the organization of the same name by establishing the institute of co-chairmanship. We would imitate them if we the institute of the co-chairmanship first had been established in the Keln meeting of the organization which calls itself to be CWA. However, the institute of chairmanship existed even before. CWA, led by me deemed the establishment of this institute acceptable," co-chairman said.

According to Galbinur, a total of 112 representatives from 18 countries attended the Brussels meeting and CWA meeting was held under conditions of mutual understanding for the first time.

CWA was founded in 1997 in the United States. The organization is struggling for the independence of the South Azerbaijan.
