The foundation of a third bridge over the Bosphorus will be laid in Istanbul in late May, CNN Türk TV channel reported on Thursday.
The ground-breaking ceremony will take place on May 29 with the participation of Turkish President Abdullah Gul, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and other officials of the country.
It is expected that construction of the bridge will be completed by 2015, the same year to be commissioned.
Earlier the Transport, Shipping and Communications Ministry of Turkey said that the third bridge over the Bosphorus will be 10-lane. It will be built by the private sector. The service life of the bridge will be 10 years. Its construction will contribute to fuel savings to the sum of $1.4 billion.
