A Memorandum of understanding on cooperation issues between the Agency for Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani Youth Association of Russia (AMOR) has been signed today.

The Memorandum has been signed by the Chairman of the Board of the Agency for Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises of Azerbaijan Orkhan Mammadov and Deputy Chairman of AMOR Emin Hajiyev.

In his speech at the event, Mammadov noted that AMOR, established by the initiative and acting under the leadership of Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, makes a significant contribution to strengthening relations with Russia.

It was stressed that the Agency in its activities, along with government agencies, actively cooperates with public organizations. One of the priorities is the development of youth entrepreneurship, the creation of a mechanism to support young people in this direction.

"The Memorandum signed today provides for the implementation of joint initiatives in the direction of development of youth entrepreneurship in the social sphere. The joint coordination, exchange of best practices and close cooperation have been envisaged in order to support the entrepreneurial activity of young Azerbaijani specialists and students residing and studying in these two countries (Russia and Azerbaijan)," Mammadov said.

It was noted that the cooperation within the framework of the Memorandum will make a significant contribution to the transformation of young people into active participants of economic reforms in the two countries.

Emin Hajiyev, in turn, spoke about the activities of the Association established in 2009, noting that the organization is currently represented in 50 federal subjects of Russia and unites thousands of young Azerbaijanis.

Hajiyev reminded that during his speech at the opening of the 4th Congress of World Azerbaijanis in 2016, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev noted that "I would like Azerbaijani businessmen residing abroad to invest in Azerbaijan".

"As a result of the reforms carried out from 2016 to the present day, in particular, the establishment of the Agency for Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, the significant progress has been made in this direction, the full transparency of business has been ensured. The participation of an increasing number of young people in business activities will help to strengthen Azerbaijani business and to increase its competitiveness," Hajiyev said.
