BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 4. Discussions on education in Azerbaijan should be raised from a domestic to a scientific level, Azerbaijani Science and Education Minister Emin Amrullayev said during his speech at the 5th International Forum “New Challenges in Education”, Trend reports.
He noted that if education stays at a domestic level, we’ll be stuck in the slow lane with no chance of moving forward.
“We have to define what are the new challenges in education. Such challenges in education exist all over the world.
Every nation has its own challenges in education. What does our philosophy of education consist of? We should think about this question. The content of Azerbaijani education has not changed for years. The view of higher education is still based on choice. Every year we welcome those who have successfully finished school and entered university, but we do not notice those who have not received higher education. Not everyone can get higher education. There should be a discussion on the philosophy of the exam in Azerbaijan,” he added.
The 5th International Forum “New Challenges in Education” is being held at ADA University on October 4.
The International Forum is held in a hybrid format with the partnership of the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan, the World Education Forum, and the Education Development Fund, with organizational support of the experimental-communication platform of education workers “T-Network” and ADA University and media support of the newspaper “Azerbaijani teacher” (Azərbaycan muallimi), “Education TV” (Tehsil TV), and magazine “Azerbaijani school” (Azərbaycan məktəbi).
The primary objective is to address emerging difficulties in education, enhance focus on environmental education, particularly the concept of "green education," and attain additional quality enhancement by accommodating the educational demands of contemporary times.
The International Forum, dedicated to the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World” and containing the idea of COP29, is held under the motto “A Better Educated Future.”
The key speakers of the forum are Dominic Savage, Director of the World Education Forum, and Andreas Schleicher, Head of the Education and Skills Department of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
