BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 4. Azerbaijan actively supports international initiatives aimed at addressing climate change issues, the Deputy Science and Education Minister of Azerbaijan Idris Isayev said at the opening ceremony of the final day of the international conference within the framework of the Climate Action Week in Baku, Trend reports.

“Several priority areas are highlighted in the national development strategy for 2030 endorsed by the decree of the President of Azerbaijan. Environmentally sustainable development protects the environment, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and adapts to climate change. Azerbaijan actively supports worldwide climate protection efforts. Sustainable development and climate change require global cooperation. Without action, the global temperature may rise five degrees by the end of the century, causing ecological changes, natural disasters, and climatic disruption,” he emphasized.

The climate science conference titled "Accelerating Research and Collaboration for Climate Action" started on the final day of "Climate Action Week" dedicated to COP29 in Baku.

The conference agenda includes panel discussions on the following topics: “Revolution in our understanding of GHG emissions: role of empirical data, AI, and advanced analytics," “Role of Global and Regional Collaboration in Overcoming Scientific Challenges" and “Impact of Climate Change & Paradigm Shifts on Transboundary Water Management."

The “Climate Action Week” being held in Baku for the first time brings together key participants from different spheres: politics, finance, trade, investment, science, art, culture, civil society, and media.
