Dmitri Shostakovitch festival is opening today in Baku, which organizers are the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Ministry told Trend.
The festival ill be opened at the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic society where the Russias State Academic Symphonic Orchestra conducted by the famous musician and cellist Mstislav Rostropovitch will perform the symphony N1 and the part from the opera Lady Macbeth from Mtsensk district.
The evenings of the camera music will be held at Baku Jazz centre and the state Philharmonic society in the framework of the week of Shostakovitch, there will be concerts of the Azerbaijan State Symphonic Orchestra and musical groups from Russia. The conference and the roundtable Shostakovitch and modernity, dedicated to the creative activity of the great composer will be held within the week.
