The vaccination against COVID-19 will help accelerate economic growth in Azerbaijan in 2021, Trend reports referring to the message of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The IMF stressed that vaccination will help defeat COVID-19 and maintain the health of citizens.
In accordance with the IMF’s forecast, Azerbaijan's GDP growth rate will reach 2.3 percent in 2021, as the sectors affected by strict quarantine regime resume activity.
Moreover, an increase in supplies through the Southern Gas Corridor compensates for the decline in oil production.
The IMF predicts the moderate rise in inflation rate at about four percent.
The IMF stressed that higher oil prices must help pass from the modest current account deficit in 2020 to the surplus of 2.4 percent of GDP in 2021.
