BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 9. Wood, a UK-based consulting and engineering firm, has secured a significant contract from Shell to provide solutions for the Prelude FLNG, located offshore Western Australia, Trend reports.
According to Wood's statement, the firm will deliver brownfield engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCm) solutions for Shell’s Prelude FLNG.
The six-year contract, described as "major" by Wood, builds on the company's 70-year global relationship with Shell. However, no further details about the new contract were provided.
The 488-meter-long and 74-meter-wide Prelude FLNG shipped its first cargo in June 2019, following several start-up delays. Shell temporarily shut down the facility in August last year for maintenance, resuming operations and shipping the first cargo post-maintenance in December.
The FLNG has the capacity to produce 3.6 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG, 1.3 mtpa of condensate, and 0.4 mtpa of LPG.
Shell operates the floating facility with a 67.5 percent stake. Japan’s Inpex holds a 17.5 percent stake, South Korea’s Kogas owns 10 percent, and Taiwan’s CPC holds 5 percent.
