Uzbekistan Prepared to Send Labor Migrants to S.Korea

Uzbekistan, Tashkent, 9 October / corr Trend T.Zhukov / The Agency on external labor migration under Uzbekistan's Ministry of Labor and Social Security is preparing to send a large group of local specialists to work in South Korea, the agency reported.

"Presently, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security is carrying out work to realize citizens' rights for work abroad. Memorandum on sending labor force to the Korean Republic through employment system (system of free hiring) was signed first with the Korean Ministry of Labor in March, 2006.

This document provided the opportunity for work on free hiring in Korea. In accordance with memorandum, the Uzbek citizens are provided with work at Korean key enterprises directly with status of worker and they enjoy all equal labor and social rights," an official statement said.

The Agency on external labor migration of Uzbekistan and the Service of development of Korean human resources Tests on Korean language were conducted twice in 2007, based on requirements of the document and with respect to fulfill the goal. Some 5,028 people passed successfully the tests. Meanwhile, 5,103 people passed test exams, which were held on 24-25 May, 2008. So far, more than 3,000 citizens of Uzbekistan have been sent to the Republic of Korea.

Cooperation in the sphere of working migration continues with Russia, too. As of September 2008, the agency sent more than 1,000 people to Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Omsk, Murmansk, Ufa, as well Leningrad, Rostov, Saratov, Belgorod and Vladimir regions, to work there, the agency reported.

The Tashkent bureau of employment of citizens in foreign countries has established connections with Poland this year and sends specialists of sphere of building in this country. Presently, negotiations with employers from the United Arab Emirates, Czech Republic and Italy are carried out by agency as well.

"Uzbekistan aims at creating conditions for citizens, who wish to work abroad. So, our compatriots should strive for achievement of such wishes, only by observing laws. Then, they will not face with troubles and fall into cheaters' hands," the Agency on issues of external working migration said.
