Uzbekiston Havo Yullari will buy 16 new aircrafts, a company source told Trend .
Despite the global financial crisis, the airline will acquire new passenger jets. Uzbekiston Havo Yullari intends to purchase two Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners, four Boeing-767-300ERs and 10 Airbus-320-200s.
The deliveries of the aircrafts will begin in 2011.
Two agreements were signed in May 2007 and October 2008 with the Boeing corporation. The aircrafts will be leased under the auspices of the Uzbek government and U.S. Eximbank. The parties chose not to disclose any further details, including the cost of the transaction.
The air company will purchase 64 IL-114-100 aircrafts from the Chkalov Tashkent Aircraft Company under a 2009-2010-program to renew its fleet. The jets are equipped with Canadian Pratt and Whitney engines.
In 2008, Uzbekiston Havo Yullari transported 2.069 million passengers, or 4 percent more than in 2007. The average passenger transport increased to 90 people, while 22,200 tons of cargo were also transported.
Since Nov. 1, the company became a member of the IATA Clearing House.
