The Azerbaijan Mortgage Fund at the Central Bank of Azerbaijan has received over 500 official appeals to get mortgage since resuming the mortgage loaning (June 1), the fund said on June 27.
"A total amount of the requested mortgage loaning is over 22 million manat," the fund said.
As for June 16, some 28 people have applied to receive social loan. The amount of the loan on these appeals makes up over one million manat.
A new list comprises 17 banks, including International Bank of Azerbaijan, Azerdemiryolbank, Azeriqazbank, AtaBank, Bank Avrasiya, Bank of Azerbaijan, Bank Standard, Bank Respublika, Gencebank, Kapital Bank, UniBank, Pasa Bank, Muganbank, Texnikabank, Turanbank, Xalq Bank and Zaminbank.
Earlier, the AMF refinanced mortgage loans via 23 authorized banking organizations. The fund suspended mortgage loaning due to lack of funds.
The Azerbaijan Mortgage Fund thus far refinanced mortgage loans worth 63.3 million manat issued by authorized banks, which comprises 93 percent of the total mortgage portfolio. In March 2006 to June 2007, when the AMF had active operations on financing the purchase of housing, banks issued mortgage loans worth 67.9 million manats.
Azerbaijan state budget for 2005-2008 allocated 80 million manat in mortgage lending through the AMF provides. About 68 million manat has already been allocated.
Nearly 14.5 million manat have been allocated by the 2009 state budget to finance social mortgage.
On June 27, the official exchange rate is 0.8041 manat to $1.
