NAR customs agencies surpasses forecasts on transfers to public budget by 50 percent

The State Customs Committee of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan surpassed forecasts on collection of customs duties and taxes by 148.1 percent, Head of the Accounting Department, Acting Head of the Financial and Tariff Department, Elshad Babayev said at a board meeting devoted to the results of the State Committee in the first half of 2009.

"As a result, instead of the projected 1.4 million manat, the customs agencies transferred 2.73 million manat to the public budget," said Babayev.

He said transfers on customs taxes and duties to the public budget in the first half exceeded the same period of 2008 by 9.1 percent or 173.540 manat.

In January-June, the NAR carries out commercial operations with 122 countries, totaling $8.53 billion, the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan reported. During this period, the goods were exported worth $5.81 billion and imported - $2.7 billion. 

On Aug. 24, the official exchange rate is 0.8039 manat to $1.
