Chevron is working with USAID to help Turkmenistan train financial experts. The project aims to enhance the country's competitiveness through economic reforms.

A month-long training course on management accounting, taxation and law for Turkmen state agencies came to a close Wednesday.

"We are pleased to work with USAID to prepare an even larger number of qualified experts in the international financial reporting standards," Chevron Nebitgaz BV Turkmenistan President Douglas Uchikura said at an event dedicated to the successful completion of the workshop.

USAID representative Erin Cole noted that an "increasing number of professionals with international certification in accounting will help to implement international accounting standards." She added that it will also "lead to the growth of foreign investments in Turkmenistan and facilitate integration into the world economic community."
