Drought destroyed 90 percent of crops in grain-producing regions of Kazakhstan, Kazakh newspaper "Liter" said.

"Dozens of farms are in bankruptcy in the western region. About 90 percent of crops were destroyed in Chingirlau region. There was no rain since early April in some areas. The temperature of the air is more than 45 degrees," Liter reported.

According to the publication, the same situation is observed in Aktyubinsk. Farmers call for to declare a state of emergency. About 70 percent of the crop destroyed.

Employees of the agricultural department are engaged in so-called cancellation of fields. About 90 percent of the crop in the area of 28 hectares will be written off.

"Many farmers on the verge of bankruptcy. Drought destroys crops for the second year. Last year, when farmers collected a record harvest in the south, about 60 percent of fields burned in the west of the country," "Liter" reported.

It should be noted that last week deputy minister of agriculture Arman Evniyev said that this year grain harvest is projected at 14,5 - 15,5 million tons.

"We unlikely to have the level of last year because last year was a record, " deputy minister said.

"Liter" reported that analysts and experts do not rule out sudden changes in prices on the grain market and the difficult situation with the current cereal stocks in the country and a possible famine in the world.

As a result of trades on a single Mercantile Exchange, the price for wheat of the third class in September was 14,650 tenge per ton, in October - 14,850 tenge per ton, in November - 14,950 tenge per ton, in December - 15,550 tenge. On average, prices fell by 1,2 percent compared to the data for the previous month. However, in September and October rates may change significantly, and wheat will cost $ 300 per ton, as it was six years ago.
