Azerbaijan's state budget deficit decreased from 2.5-3 percent to 0.5-1 percent over the past 10 years, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy Ziyad Samadzade said at the Conference of International Manufacturers and Entrepreneurs Congress in Baku this week.
"Over the past 10 years, the country's state budget increased by 18 times. The country's foreign debt amounts to about 6 percent of GDP, which is one of the lowest figures in the world," Samadzade said.
He said the government is supporting private sector development. Today, more than 80 percent of GDP is provided by the private sector. Each year, about 30 percent of the state budget funds goes to infrastructure projects.
