Iran to export 12 billion dollars worth of goods to Iraq

Iran will export over $12 billion worth of goods during the current Iranian calendar year, which ends on March 19th, 2013, the Iranian ambassador to Baghdad, said on Wednesday.

Iran's exports to Iraq stood at 11 billion dollars previous year, the IRNA News Agency quoted Hassan Danayifar as saying.

He went on to note that Iraq is Tehran's main trade partner.

Iran exported some 3.55 billion dollars worth of goods to Iraq during the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year, which began March 20th.

The figure shows a 37% increase in comparison to the same period the previous year, the ILNA News Agency reported.

Iran also imported some 53.6 million dollars worth of goods from Iraq in the mentioned period, which is 3% less than the previous year.

Iran and Kurdistan's regional economic transactions account for 59 percent ‎of Iran and Iraq's total economic trades.‎

The ‎capital of Iraq's Kurdistan region, Arbil, hosted the first Tehran-Arbil ‎Economic Cooperation Conference earlier this month. ‎

At the end of the conference, the two sides signed a memorandum of ‎understanding, the IRNA News Agency reported.‎

The Iranian Vice President for ‎International Affairs Ali Saeedlou and the ‎prime minister of Iraq's ‎Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) ‎‎ Nechirvan Idris Barzani prepared the memorandum of understanding.‎
