Lithuanian market may open way for Azerbaijani business to Europe (PHOTO)

The Azerbaijani market is very attractive for Lithuanian companies, Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius said at the Azerbaijani-Lithuanian business forum in Baku on Tuesday.

"Lithuanian companies are successfully operating in the fields of textiles, the food industry and information technology," he said. "They are interested in the Azerbaijani market. The successful work of the intergovernmental chamber of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries created a good foundation for expanding relations in the fields of industry, energy, transport, agriculture, tourism, information technologies, health and culture."

He added that the companies have great mutual interest and good prospects for developing relations, stipulated by mutual trade turnover growth by 34 percent - to $ 49 million in 2012. Lithuanian exports to Azerbaijan in the period increased by 52 percent to $ 45 million.

"Moreover, the Lithuanian market may open the way for Azerbaijani business to a huge European market with 500 million consumers," Prime Minister said.

The Azerbaijani Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev said that these business forums play an important role in the development of business relations between entrepreneurs of the two countries. More than 100 companies representing various spheres are attending today's business forum.

The minister said that industrial production, agriculture, tourism as well as other fields are of mutual interest.
